A case of Ideopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)
This is a case of a home maker, suffering from ITP since the age of 10 years.
ITP is an autoimmune disease in which the platelet count drops. As a result, patient is at high risk of internal bleeding or bleeding on injury which may prove fatal. She was put on steroids and had to undergo splenectomy at the age of 12 years. It went into remission and then relapsed in 2011. In her words, “I was back to square one where I was at the age of 10 years, with lot of steroids and lot of suffering with bleeding all over!” She was unable to stop steroids, as platelet count would drop alarmingly. Her lipid profile was highly abnormal. (ref. table below) Due to steroids, she became prediabetic. She was having abnormal hunger pangs, severe acidity, and she gained lot of weight. Emotionally she felt very depressed that there was no cure.
She was under the care of a leading hematologist of India. Desperate to find an answer to her suffering, she approached CHRC.
At the start of the treatment, she was on T. Wysolone 20 mg and Mycept 500 mg. She was prescribed up to 60 mg of steroids whenever there was a sharp drop in platelet count. Her blood test reports were as follows:
Platelet: 8,000
LIPID PROFILE: Total Cholesterol : 319 mg/dl
LDL : 193 mg/dl
Triglycerides : 311 mg/dl
VLDL : 62 mg/dl
She was put on homoeopathic treatment and was advised to join NEST – Lifestyle Disorder Reversal Program. On the Program, in just 4 months, she was transformed. Most of her complaints vanished!!
Her blood tests at the conclusion of the Program are outstanding ! Her serum lipid profile has become absolutely NORMAL!!
Platelet: 28,000
LIPID PROFILE: Total Cholesterol : 180 mg/dl
LDL : 112 mg/dl
Triglycerides : 172 mg/dl
VLDL : 34 mg/dl
This is the first time in last 5 years that her platelet count is climbing up in spite of stopping the steroids. Though her platelet count is still to fall within normal limits, she is surely on the path of speedy recovery with proper homoeopathic treatment and food as medicine complementing it.
