Stress Management Tip: North Korea and Iran

The recent actions of North Korea and Iran have many people expressing high anxiety and stress regarding the current conflicts with these two countries. If you are stressed over the situation with North Korea and Iran, allow me to ease your anxiety and stress about them.

There is no doubt that stress is being prompted by the current situation where North Korea constantly threatens to send a missile (perhaps nuclear) to the United States. This is especially the case if you happen to live in or around San Francisco or Los Angeles.

Perhaps I have more reason than most to allow myself anxiety over the North Korea situation. First, I live on the west coast of the United States near two metropolitan areas. The second is that when I presented nine (9) times in South Korea, my host took me to the 39th parallel—where I not only saw the stand-off situation there—but also walked down one of the many tunnels that were built to invade South Korea.

And what about Iran’s continual threat to destroy Israel, our country’s partner in the Middle East! Iran funds terrorist groups whose aim is to destroy Western Culture. The number of people now around the world who practice 7th century Sharia law of Islam is promoted by Iran.

So here is what to do:

First ask yourself, “What can I do about it?”

The answer: “Nothing!”

Then ask yourself, “How can I stop worrying and stressing about it?”

The answer is to manage your mind. You do this by redirecting your thinking. If you do not manage your mind, your emotions will continue to prompt stress—not only in this situation—but in any situation that allows your emotions to control you.

It is impossible to stop an emotion. The only way to stay in control and not endure stress is to redirect your thinking. The reason is that feelings or emotions ALWAYS arise after your thoughts are created.

Since you cannot change the situation either regarding North Korea or Iran, the smart thing to do to reduce stress by thinking in positive terms. Have confidence that the leaders of our country will handle the situation successfully. You can master your mind, by realizing that you have a choice to engage or not to engage in this type of positive thinking.

Tip: Direct your mind—your thinking—to have confidence in the leaders of our country. Any other thoughts will prompt unnecessary stress.
